Classes. Halloween. Studio. fun with the kids

Halloween is coming!  My classes are starting here
Mermaid costumes
Thus the most pressing focus is on costumes for little girls. Sophie and Maia wanted to be identical mermaids, so I had fun and off these will go tomorrow.

Little Red Riding Hood, the Bumblebee, -and "daddy"

Two weeks in California included a gorgeous day for our yearly trip to Arata pumpkin farm, near Half Moon Bay and lots of fun for the girls, including running through corn mazes, huge bouncy houses, and petting some very docile farm animals. Zephyr and Violet are already in costume.. Maia and Sophie are ready to carve lots of pumpkins

party fun

And Violet turned one. All four girls enjoyed playing with new toys from great Aunt Carolyn at the birthday party (and playing in the fountain and sandbox)

Treetop Pair
My quilt Treetop Pair, was at PIQF, along with many wonderful quilts (although my 2 year old granddaughter Zephyr felt that the highlight of the show was riding up and down on the see  through elevator!)

One of our favorites: Poseidon, by Marilyn Belford also shown here

Prior to that trip, my friend Kathne came to Hawaii, and we checked out beaches, shopping, museums, a vanilla bean farm, and swam with the turtles in Hilo. It rained every night, and was sunny all day long. I finished off the  portrait of her granddaughter that she started in one of my classes and gave it to her.

CLASSES:
It's been fun starting m to get to know the friendly folks living here on the Hamakua coast. A lot of them are interested in learning arts and crafts, so I will be teaching this Friday, October 26, in the new studio. The class will be "stained glass quilts" and will be geared toward beginners. We'll also discuss what everyone wants to learn, and set up classes in art journaling, portraits, free motion quilting etc.
And, hallelujah. We finally got the Innova longarm machine and frame set up and running. It's great to be quilting again
If you are interested in classes email me at pcul429@gmail.com

And Lovebirds Three will be published for the third time, in the new Lark Portraits book, coming out this spring

The studio is coming along. Still have lots of quilts and paintings to hang on the wall, but just starting to work in this incredible space is both invigorating and, may I see it? a trifle distracting! Excuse me while I go pick some fruit off our trees..

And did I mention sunrises and sunsets here?

  3. It's great to see the longarm up and running again! The studio looks spacious and colorful - a great place to work. Loved Treetop Pair. Glad I got to see it at the quilt show. I'm looking forward to learning how to quilt with my girls. We'll be breaking out the sewing machine tonight to do some costume repairs and more patching of jeans. I never knew there were so many parts to a sewing machine. I'm glad you were there to show us how to use it the first time. Looking forward to seeing you at Thanksgiving!
    Love, G
